The Project

If you're new here, you may want to read about the project this blog is about. Thanks for visiting!

Imagine a 9/11 where you replace all the casualties with children and you have the daily death toll of malaria.

The real difference is that we know it’s going to happen tomorrow, meaning we can actually do something to prevent it (unlike that tragic September day). And that’s exactly what we’ve set out to do, here’s how.

First off, we cover everyone with a washable, anti-mosquito bednet that lasts 3-4 years (LLINs). Unicef and alike currently provide such bednets free of charge to children under five and pregnant woman, which serves as very good protection. However, by covering everyone we don’t just protect people from malaria but also fight the disease itself.

We distribute the bednets house-to-house so we can teach everybody at their own pace about why and how to use their bednets. This ensures total distribution as well as high and correct usage of the nets.

Next, we spoil the mosquitoes breeding grounds such as stagnant water and trash in order to hit malaria even harder.

Finally, we monitor obsessively so that we know what works and what could be done better.
